DTS Drainage Pond / Mill Pond - Maynard

Last night I took Jr. to the drainage pond to practice casting with his new rod. I picked up a Shakespeare telescopic beginners rod complete with startup tackle with his own little box. He did pretty well casting. In between his casts, I actually lost a nice bass using a Heddon Tiny Torpedo. As soon as it hit the water a Bass swam right over and hammered it. When the Bass shook at the surface and jumped out of the water the Torpedo shot out of it’s mouth and landed almost at my feet. There were so many weeds and algae growth on top that every cast required cleaning. On the way home, we ended up stopping by the Mill Pond to take a few more casts. No weeds, no trees, deep, and perfect for (practice) casting. Something else hit the Torpedo but didn’t manage to get himself hooked. No fish.
