On the way home I stopped briefly on the bridge to check out the water level. WAY down. Just a trickle. I could see a couple of pools but for the most part, 1' was the average.
I took a few casts with my Mepps and managed to pull up 2 small Dace and lost a couple others. They've headed for the deeper cooler pools which can't really be reached from the bridge. I did notice a very large Snapping Turtle swim close to the bridge to take a closer look at all the activity. He thought I couldn't see him but little did he know the water was 1' deep and I was looking right down on him. Big snapper, 35lbs? A mother duck and hatchings managed to swim by without him even noticing.
